The “Japan Winery Awards 2023”, which recognizes wineries (breweries) that produce high-quality wine, was held in Tokyo on the 2nd. Domaine Takahiko (Yoichi Town, Shiribeshi District) and Yamazaki Winery (Mikasa City) were selected for the highest five-star award. Domaine won the award for 6 years in a row, and Yamazaki for 5 years in a row. Mongakudani Winery (Yoichi) was selected for the Special Jury Prize.

Organized by the Japan Winery Awards Association (Tokyo), which is made up of critics, this is the sixth time. Targeting domestic breweries that have been established or outsourced production for more than 5 years, we will evaluate the state of field management and brewing technology. This time, 319 locations nationwide were examined, and 16 locations were selected as five stars.

On the 2nd, an award ceremony and tasting event were held, attended by about 100 producers and related parties. Mr. Shigeaki Kihara of Mongakudani Winery, who participated by phone, said with pleasure, “The taste of wine can change greatly with just one spoonful of blend. It’s an honor.”
In addition, 12 locations in Hokkaido were selected as 4-star, 18 as 3-star, and 4 as Connoisseurs.
